Small but Strong

By Ben on January 8, 2010

I hope I haven’t let down Stephen, Doug and Bryce with my tardiness in posting what happened at McSwiggan’s while they were on the road in Houston.  But, I did finally manage to get a little bit up about it.  -Ben

From the headline, you might think I was referring to the mighty Wes Welker.  But no – I am in fact talking about the contingent of fans that turned out at McSwiggan’s to see the Patriots take on the Texans.  Several of us couldn’t make it down to Houston, but we didn’t want to miss out on the fun that happens when getting together for a game.

This one was tough to watch, sometimes, though.  The mood for the game was set when Welker went down with the knee injury early on.  I think it was as though someone handed everyone on the team a note that said “Save it for next week, boys”, because the passion really went away.

But, the fans at McSwiggans, the small but strong group of fans, kept the spirit going.  Although there were very few Jacob Ingram chants, but we did get in many “Another New England Patriots….First Down!!” cries.  We may have lost the game, but a good time was once again had at the meetup.

We had Jaimie as our waitress again, and even when things aren’t going well, at least she’s there to comfort you with a fresh pint.  We’ll have her as our official group-sponsored waitress through the playoffs, so no one will have to worry about getting a timely refill.  We just need to deck her out in some Patriots gear to complete the look!

Sights are now set on the post-season.  Here’s to a win on Sunday!  Go Pats!!
