It Doesn’t Feel Like 0-0

It Doesn't Feel Like 0-0

This is why we love Bill Belichick. After demolishing yet another opponent, achieving 14-win season for a record number of years for a heach coach, securing the top seed in the AFC, and generally being awesome, Bill told the team that they're 0-0. They haven't accomplished anything yet. Sure, he's right, but come on! The Patriots managed to avoid any serious injuries. Only Danny Woodhead left t ... (read more)

Clinched!

Clinched!

Alright, I know Brady likes to say that they haven't accomplished anything yet. Well, this time they did, because they clinched a playoff berth. They also have a 2-game lead in the division, and once they clinch the division they clinch a bye week. The way the Jets are playing, they might do that next week. This game was over at half time, which I guess is why CBS switched to the Jets game. Tha ... (read more)

Jets Dismantled, Not Humbled

Jets Dismantled, Not Humbled

Sometimes at important moments everything comes together... except for the Jets, they come apart. What I witnessed last night was a near perfect game by the Patriots in one of the most important regular season games in the history of the franchise. Is there any question that Brady/Belichick is the best QB/coach combination ever? Is there any doubt that Brady is the league MVP? Does Rex Ryan ever ... (read more)

Put on a Manning Face

Put on a Manning Face

It was the biggest win of the season with the shortest amount of time to enjoy it. The Patriots started out strong, scoring on nearly every possession for the first three quarters. When all was said and done, they had nearly as many rushing yards as passing years (168 to 186), including an electrifying run by Woodhead in which he hid behind the offensive line, shot into the secondary, made the saf ... Cause for Celebration

Cause for Celebration

There was much reason to celebrate this past Sunday. We started out the night with an old tradition that is new to us. John remembered the old days at Sullivan Stadium when a priest would lead those present in a pre-game prayer followed by a shot of Dr. McGillicuddy's schnapps. So thanks to John, we began the night with a shot of Dr. McGillicuddy's and a Patriots prayer expertly performed by our ... Dropped the Ball

Dropped the Ball

I know, it takes me a long time to post after a loss. The Patriots let a prime opportunity, and the ball, slip right through their fingers. Sitting atop the NFL with the best record and facing a seemingly inferior team, the Patriots had a chance to distance themselves from their biggest rivals in the division and in the conference. But they fell flat, and it was the Brows who took advantage of ... (read more)

It Turns Out It’s NOT Lonely at the Top

It Turns Out It's NOT Lonely at the Top

When all was said and done, the New England Patriots sat atop the entire NFL. This team with so many veterans on IR and so many rookies being rushed into starting roles was supposed to be rebuilding or in a "bridge year." Not so, say the standings. Those other teams that were said to be elite a few weeks ago are now looking up at the Patriots, as it should be. Not only are the Patriots the only te ... (read more)

Severe Weather and Near Misses

Severe Weather and Near Misses

What happened? I think the Patriots are 5-1. Ok, I just checked the Internet and yeah, the Patriots beat the Chargers and moved to a tie for first place in the AFC East. Oh yeah, they also are tied for the best record in the NFL with the Jets and Steelers. The Chargers looked like a team with average talent and poor coaching. They put the ball on the ground twice in unforced turnovers. The Patr ... (read more)

Welcome Back, Deion

Welcome Back, Deion

Now this is more like it! The Patriots have a familiar look on offense, with Deion Branch picking up where he left off four years ago. It's like he never left. Branch and Brady praised each other quite liberally after the game. Belichick is actually smiling! I love it! All week, the pundits and mediots questioned whether the Patriots were one of the "elite" teams, like the Jets, Steelers, and R ... (read more)
